There are descrepancies between these Hunslet records and Robert Gates' records for Billy Batten. Assuming Robert used the original RKC sheets the differences are:- 1907/08 - 25/12/1907 v Halifax. RKC has Batten 2 tries while four match reports found state Batten 1 try and A Goldthorpe 1 try. 1908/09 - 22/03/1909 v Oldham. RKC have Hoyle at centre. Yorkshire Post clearly states Batten deputised for Hoyle. Batten was also in Leeds Mercury's selected side on the day of the match. 1911/12 - 25/12/1911 v Halifax. RKC attribute one try to James Batten. Yorkshire Post reports it was Billy. 01/01/1912 v St Helens. RKC have W Batten at centre. However he was on international duty with England against Australasia on the day so the Batten who played will have been James. 13/01/1912 - RKC have Batten scoring the goal. Both Athletic News and Yorkshire Post state it was Toft. YP report specifically mentions Batten missing his 3 attempts. 1912/13 - 12/10/1912 v Coventry. RKC has Guerin with 5 goals. Hunslet programmes later that season have W Batten scoring one of them. Yorkshire Post confrms Guerin's 4 but does not name the other scorer. 22/02/1913 v Hull Kingston Rovers. RKC W & J Batten attributed with one try each and Jenkinson 2. Yorkshire Post and Athletic News report 3 to Jenkinson and one to James Batten.International Summary
